Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)

Many projects appear huge and possibly impossible to complete. In order to break projects down into consumable parts, I like to use a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS). A WBS identifies all of the tasks in a project and is, in its most simple form, a task list. Once you have a solid WBS in place, it becomes much easier to build out your project plan. This is a sample WBS for creating a three-story house:
